We make one thing well: beautiful, personalized maps of the places that matter in your life story.
Why we built this
Most gifts get forgotten. A bottle, a candle, a card — in six months, no one remembers. But the places in your life — where you grew up, where you met the love of your life, where you buried your grandmother, where your first child was born — those are permanent. They're the geography of who you are.
We started Map of Us because we wanted to give our own families a gift that wouldn't end up in a drawer. Something that hangs on a wall for a decade. Something you walk past every morning on your way to the kitchen and feel something small but real.
Turns out: if the map is right — if the places on it are the ones that matter — people cry when they open it. We've seen it happen dozens of times now. That's why we keep doing this.
What we believe
Gifts should feel personal
Every map is one-of-one. No templates forced on you, no generic output. The AI starts a story, you finish it.
Quality over variety
Seven map styles, seven product formats. We'd rather get a short list right than offer fifty options that are all mediocre.
Make it right, not clever
If something's wrong — typo, color, damage — we reprint or refund. No clever policies. Just fix it.
Stay small, stay independent
We read every support email personally. We pick the paper. We set the prices. No investors telling us to cut corners.
How your map is made
Design
You tell us the places — paste a list, or talk to our AI storyteller. We turn that into a Mapbox-rendered map with your title, locations, route lines, and custom labels.
Rendering
At checkout, your final design is rendered server-side at 300 DPI into a print-ready PNG and PDF. The digital download is delivered to your email instantly.
Printing
Physical prints are produced on demand by our production partner using archival pigment-based inks on 189 gsm acid-free matte paper (posters and framed), 370 gsm poly-cotton canvas (canvas prints), or matted behind glass in solid black wood frames. Nothing is stocked in a warehouse — every print is made the day your order comes in.
