Why I built this
I've been obsessed with maps since I was a kid. Atlases on every road trip. Framed nautical charts in my first apartment. A giant pull-out of the world pinned above my desk through college.
When my wife and I had our first baby, and then our second a few years later, I started thinking about the geography of our life together, the city where we met, the park bench where I proposed, the hospital where our daughter was born, the house we bought on the east side of Austin. I kept picturing it as one map. I couldn't find anything that did it right, so I built it. Made the first one as a gift for my wife on our anniversary.
She cried. The real kind of cry, the one where she kept pointing at each pin and telling the kids “that's where Daddy and I had our first date.”
That's when it was obvious this had to exist for other families. Every family has a map like this, a geography of the moments that made them who they are. Most people just never get to see it all in one piece.
Today Map of Us is still run out of our house in Austin. My wife reads every support email. My kids pick markers for the templates. Our map hangs in our living room. Yours is waiting to be made.

Gifts should feel personal
Every map is one-of-one. No templates forced on you, no generic output. You pick a designer style, then make it yours with unlimited revisions.
Quality over variety
Seven map styles, seven product formats. We'd rather get a short list right than offer fifty options that are all mediocre.
Make it right, not clever
If something's wrong, typo, color, damage, we reprint or refund. No clever policies. Just fix it.
Stay small, stay family-owned
We read every support email personally. We pick the paper. We set the prices. Family-owned, no investors, nobody telling us to cut corners to hit a quarter.
How your map is made
Design
You pick a designer style and buy first. Then you add the places that matter and personalize the title, labels, colors, fonts, and markers with a live preview and unlimited revisions. We turn that into a Mapbox-rendered map with your title, locations, route lines, and custom labels.
Rendering
When you finish and approve your map, your final design is rendered server-side at 300 DPI into a print-ready PNG and PDF. The digital download is delivered to your email instantly.
Printing
Physical prints are produced on demand by our production partner using archival pigment-based inks on 189 gsm acid-free matte paper (posters and framed), 370 gsm poly-cotton canvas (canvas prints), or matted behind glass in solid black wood frames. Nothing is stocked in a warehouse, every print is made the day your order comes in.

Founder
I run Map of Us out of our house in Austin with my wife and two kids. I handle the product and design; my wife reads every support email; the kids pick markers for new templates.
If you email us, you'll hear back from one of us, usually me, within a business day. If something isn't right with your order, we fix it. No scripts, no escalation chains.
